Osterwieck's 1921 Notgeld issue was printed by A. W. Zickfeldt, a local press operating in the same town that issued the notes — an unusual degree of self-sufficiency for a small Harz municipality. Most German Kleingeldersatz of this period was farmed out to larger printing houses in Leipzig or Berlin, making hyper-local production a minor point of distinction.
