| Obverse description | The obverse is dominated by the large decorative Fraktur title 'Notgeld der Stadt Neustadt an der Orla' across the upper portion, with the denomination '25 Pfennig' in a yellow vignette at upper left. The central field carries patriotic letterpress text urging purchase of German goods, flanked below by two circular guild seals — the tanner's (Gerber) to the left and the cloth-maker's (Tuchmacher) to the right — with the city arms in full colour between them, depicting a fortified gateway above a quartered heraldic shield. A facsimile signature of the Bürgermeister appears to the right, and the printer's imprint 'Druck: Johannes Arndt, Jena' runs along the lower margin. |
