To the left, a large intaglio-style vignette of a full-rigged sailing vessel under sail occupies the center-left, with the Emden city skyline visible on the waterline in the background; the city coat of arms — a crowned shield with a figure above wavy lines — appears in the upper-left corner above the inscription EMDEN. To the right, the denomination 25 Pfennig is set in bold blackletter type at the top, followed by the redemption text in Kurrent script, the place and date Emden, 1920, a manuscript signature, and the issuing authority Der Magistrat; a red serial number is printed in the lower-right corner. |

The scene renders a view of the old harbour gate area of Emden (Am alten Hasentor), with a large merchant building to the left, a classical gateway arch bearing the Latin inscription Si Emda Et Portus Et Aura Daes at centre, a medieval round tower to the far right, and figures with boats and dock equipment in the foreground waterway. A decorative cartouche at the top bears the title legend in blackletter script. |
