| 正面描述 | Right-facing draped bust of Kwame Nkrumah occupying most of the field, modelled in high relief by sculptor Cecil Thomas, whose engraver's initials C.T. appear below the truncation. A circular raised legend surrounds the effigy, reading CIVITATIS GHANIENSIS CONDITOR above and KWAME·NKRUMAH below, the full Latin inscription translating as 'Kwame Nkrumah, Founder of the State of Ghana'. The portrait is contained within a recessed inner border, with a plain rim enclosing the design. |

Ghana's 1965 coinage series was issued just months before the February 1966 military coup that overthrew Kwame Nkrumah while he was en route to Hanoi. The National Liberation Council that seized power moved quickly to purge Nkrumah's image from public life, which gave this entire issue an unusually short window of legitimate circulation before becoming politically charged objects in everyday pockets.
