| Beschrijving voorzijde | Laureate head of Apollo facing left, rendered in fine late Classical style with delicately modelled features and flowing locks of hair adorned with a laurel wreath of naturalistic form. The hair falls in wavy tresses behind the neck, exhibiting the high artistic quality characteristic of Syracusan engraving of the Agathoclean period. Behind the head, in the right field, a small oinochoe (jug) serves as a control symbol. The whole is set within a fine beaded border. |
