Issued as part of Cook Islands' long-running program of licensed Disney-themed novelty coinage, this piece has no monetary or historical significance beyond its place in that collector series. Cook Islands has issued legal tender under its own authority since 1972, but the vast majority of its modern commemorative output is produced for the collector market by external minting houses and never circulates on the islands.
