| 背面描述 | Central field bearing a multi-line Arabic inscription giving the mint name and regnal year, arranged in horizontal registers. The text identifies the place of issue as Omdurman (أم درمان) and records the Hijri date. A circle of crescent devices surrounds the central inscription, mirroring the obverse design; notably, this type lacks the phrase 'Azza Nashruhu' found on earlier issues. The field is enclosed within a beaded inner border and a reeded outer rim, with the coin's characteristic irregular flan visible at the periphery. |

Issued under Abdullah ibn Muhammad — the Khalifa who succeeded the Mahdi after the fall of Khartoum in 1885 — this coin circulated within a state that had expelled Egyptian and British authority and was running its own parallel monetary system out of Omdurman. The Mahdist treasury was chronically strained by near-continuous warfare on multiple frontiers, and the billon composition reflects that pressure directly. At just .100 fine, the silver content is almost nominal.
The Khalifa's regime would collapse within four years of this issue, ended by Kitchener at the Battle of Omdurman in 1898.
