20 Qirsh - Abdullah

Beschrijving voorzijde	Central field dominated by the toughra (imperial calligraphic monogram) of the Mahdist ruler Abdullah ibn Muhammad, rendered in stylized Arabic script. The toughra is flanked and surrounded by a circle of crescent moon devices, lending the design a distinctly Islamic character. The denomination notation appears within the field in Arabic numerals and script. The entire central device is enclosed within a beaded inner border, itself surrounded by a reeded outer rim. The flan is irregular and the strike characteristically uneven, consistent with the primitive minting conditions at Omdurman.
