| Obverse description | Cream-toned note with a decorative green scalloped border enclosing a radiating sunburst underprint in orange-gold. The title "Küstriner Stadtkassen-Schein" is set in elaborate Gothic blackletter script across the upper portion, with a circular guilloche rosette at centre. The denomination "Zwanzig Mark" is inscribed in large Gothic script across the middle field, with the issuance text, date "Küstrin, den 19. November 1918", and the authority line "Der Magistrat" arranged in the lower half, accompanied by two manuscript signatures. A red serial number appears in the upper right corner. |

Küstrin — today Kostrzyn nad Odrą in western Poland — was a heavily fortified garrison town on the Oder River, and by late 1918 its municipal treasury was issuing notgeld to compensate for the near-total collapse of small-denomination Reichsbank coin in circulation. Carl Flemming A.G., based in Glogau (now Głogów), was a well-established commercial printer with a long regional presence in Silesia, and their work on this series is competent if not distinguished.
The dual signatures of Securius and W. Schlitzberger indicate joint authorization under the Stadthauptkasse — a bureaucratic formality that became standard practice as municipalities scrambled to establish the appearance of institutional legitimacy for what was, in effect, emergency scrip printed in the final weeks of the German Empire.
