A panoramic view of Hersfeld occupies the main field, dominated by the Romanesque ruins of the Stiftskirche at right with rolling hills in the background, rendered in a fine line-engraved style. The city name 'Stadt Hersfeld' with a heraldic cross appears in Fraktur at the top of the vignette panel, flanked by the serial number; the denomination '20' is repeated in boxed numerals at left and right margins, and the inscription 'Zwanzig Mark' is overprinted in large Fraktur script across the centre of the vignette. |
