Württemberg's elevation to a kingdom in 1806 — Napoleon's reward to Frederick for switching sides before Austerlitz — triggered an immediate overhaul of the coinage. These kreuzers belong to the first regal series struck under the new royal title, issued while Frederick was simultaneously drafting a constitution that he would ultimately suppress in favor of personal rule.
