| Reverse description | A three-quarter length figure of the Blessed Nicholas of Flüe (Niklaus von Flüe), patron saint of Switzerland, depicted kneeling in prayer upon rocky ground, clad in a long robe and holding a rosary and cross before him; rays of divine light descend from the upper right. The figure is set within a beaded inner circle and flanked by rocky landscape elements. The circumferential legend B: NICALAUS VON FLÜE ·I·H· runs around the periphery in Roman capitals, with the date 1742 appearing in the lower exergue area. The reverse engraving exhibits a vigorous Baroque style consistent with Swiss cantonal silver coinage of the period. |
