| Descrizione del rovescio | The reverse bears the strongly modelled right-facing bust of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, founding President of Czechoslovakia, portrayed in old age with characteristic moustache and beard, executed in a restrained Art Deco manner by engraver Otakar Španiel. The effigy occupies the greater part of the field, set against a plain background within a beaded border. The legend T·G·MASARYK curves along the upper right periphery, while the birth and death years 1850–1937 arc along the left. The engraver's initials O·Š appear at the bottom of the field beneath the truncation. |

This issue was struck specifically to mark the 87th birthday of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, who had resigned the presidency two years earlier in 1935 due to failing health — the first peaceful, voluntary transfer of executive power in the country's short history. He died in September 1937, the same year this coin entered circulation, making it simultaneously a tribute and an obituary.
Czechoslovakia had less than two years of sovereignty remaining when these were struck. The Munich Agreement and subsequent German occupation would render the issuing state extinct by March 1939.
