The denomination 20$ appears beneath the central device, and the date 2021 is inscribed at the lower rim. The entire central composition is surrounded by a deeply struck, intricately detailed labyrinth pattern filling the broad border, with the legend THESEUS AND THE MINOTAUR incused within the maze along the upper arc. The coin is struck in antiqued finish, lending a dramatic dark patina to the recessed areas of the labyrinth. |

Palau has operated as one of the Pacific's most prolific bullion and collector-issue mints-by-proxy since the 1990s, licensing its sovereign authority to European producers — primarily the Bavarian State Mint and the Mint of Poland — to manufacture high-relief numismatic pieces sold almost entirely to the international collector market. This piece is part of that commercial program, not a product of any domestic monetary need.
The Theseus series draws on the Attic myth recorded most fully by Plutarch in his *Life of Theseus*, written around 75 AD.
