Obverse description Green on light green underprint. The circular seal of the Central Bank of the Philippines (dated 1949) is positioned at left centre, while a large ornate numeral '20' vignette occupies the centre of the note, with the denomination 'TWENTY CENTAVOS' inscribed on a banner across it. Two facsimile signatures appear at the bottom, attributed to the President of the Philippines and the Governor of the Central Bank, with decorative guilloche corner medallions bearing the numeral '20' at each corner.
Obverse lettering CENTRAL BANK OF THE PHILIPPINES 1949 THIS NOTE IS A LIABILITY OF THE CENTRAL BANK AND IS FULLY GUARANTEED BY THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES TWENTY CENTAVOS THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER IN THE PHILIPPINES FOR ALL DEBTS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE
Reverse description Uniformly green. The centre is occupied by a large scalloped guilloche medallion bearing the stylised numeral '20' and a 'TWENTY CENTAVOS' banner, flanked by symmetrical foliate scroll ornaments. The entire field is covered by a dense, repetitive letterpress underprint of 'CENTRAL BANK OF THE PHILIPPINES' in oval cartouches, with decorative corner pieces and the printer's imprint 'THOMAS DE LA RUE & COMPANY. LIMITED. LONDON.' at the foot.
