The P#130 series was part of the Central Bank of the Philippines' first domestically-authorized fractional currency program following the bank's establishment in 1949. De La Rue printed the full centavo range for this series, and the 20 centavos denomination saw the heaviest everyday circulation of the lot — low-value fractional notes in the Philippines during the 1950s moved through market transactions at a punishing rate, and survivors in anything above well-worn condition are genuinely uncommon.
The cotton-linen substrate De La Rue used was standard for their tropical-climate contracts, chosen specifically for durability in humid conditions.
