Bolivia's 1986 monetary reform replaced the catastrophically devalued peso boliviano — which had suffered one of the worst hyperinflationary collapses in Latin American history, reaching annual rates above 20,000% in 1985 — with the new boliviano at a conversion rate of one million to one. This note belongs to that first post-reform issue, printed by the Canadian Bank Note Company, which had a long relationship with Bolivian currency production.
The series is not scarce in circulated grades, but uncirculated examples with intact watermark registration are harder to source than the catalog frequency suggests.
