| 背面描述 | A standing draped deity — likely Zeus or a local cult figure — depicted in full length facing slightly left, holding attributes in each hand, rendered in a stiff provincial style. The multi-line Greek legend ΔΙΟΝΥΣΙΟΣ ΑΠΟΛΛΩΝΙΟΥ ΜΕΛΙΤΩΝ ΑΠΑΜΕΩΝ surrounds and flanks the central figure, identifying the local magistrate Dionysios son of Apollonios, the civic official Meliton, and the issuing city of the Apameans. The reverse field is heavily worn with a thick green patina obscuring fine detail. |

Apamea in Phrygia — refounded by Antiochus I and later resettled with Macedonian veterans — maintained a robust tradition of civic bronze coinage under Augustus, with issues authorized by named local magistrates. The magistrate name preserved here, Dionysios son of Apollonios, follows the standard eponymous format used across Phrygian civic mints in the Augustan period, where local Greek families competed for the prestige of attaching their names to imperial-era issues.
The ethnic ΜΕΛΙΤΩΝ ΑΠΑΜΕΩΝ is comparatively rare on the bronze sequence, appearing on only a handful of dies known to von Aulock's corpus.
