| Obverse description | Half-length portrait of Archduke Ferdinand II of Tyrol facing right, depicted in three-quarter view, clad in striated half-armour with prominent pauldrons and gorget. The figure holds a sceptre raised over the right shoulder and wears a crown. The portrait is rendered in a robust late Renaissance style characteristic of Tyrolean coinage of the period. The encircling legend in Latin reads FERDINAND D G ARCHID AVSTRIÆ. |
