The portraiture is rendered in the vigorous late Renaissance hammered style characteristic of the Dresden Mint. |

| Popis rubu | Facing conjoined busts of the two ducal brothers, John George I and August of Saxony, both shown in armor within a central oval cartouche. Surrounding the central cartouche is an elaborate arrangement of nine heraldic shields representing the various territorial arms of the Saxon lands, disposed in a circular pattern within a beaded border. The peripheral legend reads IOHAN: GEORG. ET. AVGVST: FRAT. ET. DVCES. SAXON+., identifying the two brothers as Dukes of Saxony. The overall composition reflects the dynastic display characteristic of large Saxon multiple-thaler coinage of the early seventeenth century. |
