| Opis awersu | The People's Republic of Bulgaria state coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a rampant lion on a shield, flanked by two upright wheat sheaves bound at the base, surmounted by a five-pointed star above the shield. The dates 681 and 1944 appear on a ribbon at the base of the arms, commemorating the founding of the First Bulgarian Empire and the socialist revolution respectively. The Cyrillic legend ХИЛЯДА И ТРИСТА ГОДИНИ arcs around the upper periphery, while БЪЛГАРИЯ is inscribed along the lower periphery. Two five-pointed stars flank the country name at the lower sides. A dentilated border encircles the entire design. |

Issued as part of Bulgaria's 1300th anniversary commemorative series marking the founding of the First Bulgarian Empire in 681 AD, this piece was one of several circulating denominations restruck with modified designs for the jubilee year. The Bulgarian National Bank released the series across all standard denominations simultaneously, making the set broadly accessible rather than collector-targeted — most entered everyday circulation.
The "2nd Coat of Arms" designation distinguishes it from earlier People's Republic issues, reflecting heraldic revisions made under Todor Zhivkov's government in 1971.
