| Obverse description | The People's Republic of Bulgaria state coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a rampant lion on a shield, flanked by two upright wheat sheaves bound at the base, surmounted by a five-pointed star above the shield. The dates 681 and 1944 appear on a ribbon at the base of the arms, commemorating the founding of the First Bulgarian Empire and the socialist revolution respectively. The Cyrillic legend ХИЛЯДА И ТРИСТА ГОДИНИ arcs around the upper periphery, while БЪЛГАРИЯ is inscribed along the lower periphery. Two five-pointed stars flank the country name at the lower sides. A dentilated border encircles the entire design. |
