The denomination legend DEUX PIASTRES curves along the upper rim in Latin letters, while the word ESSAI appears in small capitals at the lower left field, identifying this piece as a pattern or trial strike. The entire design is enclosed within a continuous arabesque border of interlaced foliate and geometric ornament, consistent with the Art Deco decorative vocabulary employed throughout the series. |
