Additional information

The Manx Electric Railway and its steam predecessors occupy an unusually intact place in operational transport history — the Isle of Man Steam Railway, running since 1874, is among the oldest surviving narrow-gauge steam railways still in regular passenger service anywhere in the world. Fenella was a 2-4-0T locomotive built by Beyer, Peacock & Co. of Manchester, the same firm responsible for much of the railway's original rolling stock.

Beyer, Peacock supplied locomotives to railways across five continents, but their work for the IoM lines is notable for its longevity in active use.
