| Obverse description | Cast copper cash coin of typical East Asian form, featuring a central square perforation surrounded by a raised inner rim. Four Chinese characters arranged in cruciform order around the central hole read 常平通寶 (Sangpyeong Tongbo), meaning 'Constant Peace Currency,' rendered in regular script. The characters are read top-to-bottom then right-to-left in the traditional manner. The flat field is unadorned, bounded by a raised outer rim, and the entire surface exhibits the characteristic patina of cast bronze coinage. |
