Reverse description The reverse displays a central square perforation with a raised inner rim, and bears two Chinese characters in the field. The character 開 (Kae, denoting the Kaesong mint) appears to one side of the square hole, and the numeral 二 (two, indicating series 2) appears on the opposite side, identifying both the issuing office — the Kaesong Township Military Office — and the series number of this emission. The flat, unadorned field is enclosed within a raised outer rim consistent with cast cash coinage of the Joseon period.
