The denomination '2 MARK' appears in a shield at left, surmounted by the Berlin bear coat of arms, while the right side bears a circular official seal above the value inscription 'GUT FÜR ZWEI MARK' in bold block letters. Berlin's municipal tramway authority issued multiple numbered series of these small-denomination Fahrgeldersatz notes during 1922 as the Reichsbank's printing capacity failed to keep pace with hyperinflation. Each issue in the sequence carried a different vignette tied to the city's transport infrastructure — Issue 9 depicts the elevated rail crossing over the Landwehrkanal, a structure well known to daily commuters on the western lines.
