The central vignette presents a detailed townscape view of the Marktplatz and Rathaus of Schmiedeberg as it appeared in 1820, with a church steeple visible in the background beneath a cloud-filled sky. Flanking the central scene are two narrow vertical panels, each on a black ground: the left panel shows a woman in traditional Silesian folk costume carrying a basket of produce, while the right panel depicts a uniformed figure; both panels carry '2 M' denomination cartouches in blue below the figures. The caption 'Schmiedeberg im Riesengebirge' appears at top in Fraktur, with 'Marktplatz u. Rathaus im Jahre 1820' at the base, and the registered design number 'D.R.G.M. 795679' in the lower margin. |
