| Obverse description | Printed in black on cream paper, the obverse is framed by a scalloped outer border enclosing a finely engraved central vignette in which a heraldic shield bearing three conifers above a bear is set upon two crossed feather branches and encircled by a ribbon scroll inscribed "Die Stadt Grünhain"; the commemorative years "1267" and "1917" flank the shield at upper centre, marking the town's 650th anniversary. The denomination "2 Mark" appears in ornate blackletter script in both upper corners, with validity text, serial number, and a manuscript signature of the Stadtgemeinderat arranged in the lower portion. The printer's imprint "WIEDEMANNSCHE DRUCKEREI A.-G. SAALFELD:THÜR" runs along the lower margin. |
