Paderborn's Stadtsparkasse entered the notgeld market in 1921 during the acute small-change shortage that followed Germany's postwar coin hoarding crisis. The four known variants catalogued under DeNG 1/2#1043.1-4/4 suggest serial or color differentiation rather than reissue — a distinction worth confirming before attribution.
