| Reverse description | The reverse presents a three-line devotional inscription SOLI / DEO / GLORIA ('Glory to God alone') arranged across the central field, with the date 1715 below, all set within an elaborate baroque foliate and scroll ornament that fills the field. A beaded border frames the entire composition. This pious motto, widely used on Swiss Reformed coinage of the period, reflects the Protestant civic identity of the city of St. Gallen. |
