| Reverse description | The reverse is dominated by a bold long cross extending to the beaded inner border, dividing the field into four quadrants. Each quadrant contains a small fleur-de-lis or stylized heraldic device, alternating in orientation. A raised inner circle frames the cross design and separates it from the outer legend. The circumferential legend in Gothic uncial reads: MONETA COMITIS FLANDRIE FLAD, designating this as coinage of the County of Flanders. The flan is irregular at the edges, consistent with hammered production of the period. |
