| Description du revers | A highly detailed, deeply struck high-relief depiction of a nummulite fossil shell dominates the central field, rendered with extraordinary precision to showcase the characteristic involute coiling and ribbed chamber sutures of these ancient foraminifera; the fossil is finished in selective gold plating, creating a vivid contrast against the surrounding ruthenium-plated field. The textured background simulates a fossil-bearing sedimentary rock surface, and the outer border is populated in relief with additional prehistoric marine fossil specimens including ammonites, echinoids, and bivalves, all finished in dark ruthenium. The series title EVOLUTION OF EARTH arcs along the upper periphery, and the subject inscription NUMMULITES appears along the lower right, both in Latin script. |
