| Obverse description | Right-facing diademed and draped bust effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the fourth portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, occupying a raised central medallion with a textured field. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs above the bust within the inner circle, with the engraver's initials IRB incuse below the truncation. The denomination TWO DOLLARS is inscribed vertically to the left of the bust. The outer border of the coin, finished with ruthenium plating, is richly decorated in high relief with a variety of fossilised marine organisms including nummulites, ammonites, sea urchins, and bivalves, with selective gold plating highlighting the rim.
