| 背面描述 | The fully colored reverse depicts a dramatic composite scene evoking the iconic angels of St. Petersburg. To the left, a gilded angel figure holding a large cross dominates the foreground, rendered in high relief with applied gold coloring; this figure references the famous angel atop the Alexander Column in Palace Square. In the central and lower field, a white relief rendition of the Peter and Paul Cathedral with its distinctive bell tower is depicted against a colored photographic panorama of the St. Petersburg cityscape, including the Neva River, the Rostral Columns, and the dome of St. Isaac's Cathedral visible on the horizon. At the upper border, a decorative cartouche features a cherub face with spread wings in white relief, flanked by ornamental scrollwork. The inscription 'ANGELS OF ST PETERSBURG' is prominently displayed in the upper field. |

This is a modern bullion-adjacent commemorative issued under Niue's longstanding arrangement with New Zealand, which granted the island territory the right to produce legal tender coinage. Niue has leveraged that status aggressively since the 1990s to mint collector-series coins with nominal face values bearing no relationship to their silver content or market price — the two-dollar denomination here is a legal fiction.
The "Angels of St. Petersburg" series drew on iconographic programs from the city's imperial Orthodox churches, a subject with no geographic or historical connection to Niue whatsoever.
