Reverse description Central square perforation surrounded by a raised square inner rim and a plain outer rim. A single Chinese ideogram 春 (Chun, denoting the Qichun Mint) appears above the square hole, with the reign-year numerals 十六 (Shi Liu, meaning 'Year 16') positioned below, identifying this piece as struck in the sixteenth year of the Chunxi era (1189). The reverse field is otherwise plain, with casting marks and iron corrosion typical of Southern Song iron cash.
