| Description de l’avers | Large papal coat of arms of Pope Pius VI displayed centrally in the field, featuring the Braschi family arms — a per pale shield with vertical lines on the dexter side and a flowering branch on the sinister — surmounted by the papal tiara (triregnum) and the crossed keys of Saint Peter tied with a cord. The shield is framed by elaborate acanthus scrollwork and cartouche ornaments. Three six-pointed stars appear in the chief of the shield surround. The circular legend reads PIVS·SEXTVS PONT·MAX· A·III, with the regnal year III (third year of pontificate) appearing at lower right, all within a beaded border. |

The inscription is enclosed within an ornate wreath-like cartouche of acanthus and laurel scrollwork, with a small decorative escutcheon at the base and foliate ornaments at the apex. A small five-pointed star mint mark appears below the date at the bottom of the cartouche. The whole is contained within a beaded border. |
