Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse presents a richly detailed allegorical scene commemorating the beatification of Lorenzo Ruiz, the first Filipino martyr. At center, the standing figure of Lorenzo Ruiz is depicted in prayer, surrounded by a narrative composition evoking his martyrdom: a gallows and condemned figures appear to the left, a coastal seascape with sailing vessels to the right, and subsidiary figures of the faithful in the foreground. Above, a celestial vision of the Virgin Mary and saints emerges amid radiating sunbeams in the upper field. The secondary inscription LORENZO RUIZ MARTIR NA PILIPINO appears in two lines to the left of the central figure, while the circular legend REPUBLIKA NG PILIPINAS runs along the upper periphery within a beaded border, and the denomination 1500 PISO is boldly rendered along the lower arc.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse features a finely modeled bust of Pope John Paul II facing slightly to the right, wearing the papal zucchetto and vestments adorned with a cross motif at the chest. The portrait is rendered with considerable sculptural relief against a polished mirror field, capturing the Pope's characteristic features with naturalistic precision. The curved legend PAGDALAW NG PAPA SA PILIPINAS arcs along the upper periphery within a beaded border, commemorating the Papal visit to the Philippines. The inscription PAPA JUAN PABLO II appears in two lines to the left of the portrait in the field, and the date 1981 is placed prominently in the lower exergue.
