Obverse description A Phoenician pentekonter (fifty-oared war galley) depicted in left profile, its hull and oar banks rendered in schematic horizontal lines conveying the vessel's forward motion across stylized wave forms below. The compact flan constrains the design, yet the characteristic multi-tiered hull structure of the warship remains identifiable. No inscription or exergual legend is present. The rendering is typical of the miniaturist engraving tradition employed at the Sidonian mint during the late fifth and early fourth centuries BC.
