The legend BANK OF UGANDA arcs along the upper periphery, with the date 19 96 divided across the middle field on either side of the supporters. The denomination 1000 SHILLINGS is inscribed along the lower periphery, and the national motto FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY appears on the scroll at the base of the arms. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border running along the inner rim. |

Chinese characters appear at the bottom of the field, referencing the political principle of reunification.
