BANQUE DE FRANCE mille francs. BARRE FECIT
Reverse description The reverse, engraved by Charles Maurand after Chazal's design in the same blue-black tone, is laid over a fine guilloche ground scattered with six-pointed star ornaments. Two seated allegorical female figures — one holding scales at left, the other a cornucopia at right — frame a large blank central panel reserved for the watermark, while a portrait medallion of Minerva in a classical helmet occupies the top centre. A lower frieze carries an eagle-and-floral vignette flanked by decorative panels, and the engravers' credits appear in the bottom margin.
Reverse lettering CAM-CHAZAL DEL. C. MAURAND SC.
