| Obverse description | Within a rectangular raised border, the legend REPUBLIQUE DU TCHAD arcs across the upper field and the denomination 1000 FRANCS appears along the lower field, both in bold incuse lettering. At center, a circular medallion depicts the draped bust of a young African woman in three-quarter view facing right, her elaborately braided hair rendered in fine detail. The motto UNITÉ • TRAVAIL • PROGRÈS • curves around the inner border of the medallion. The date is divided on either side of the central medallion, with 19 to the left and 99 to the right, all set against a highly polished proof field. |
