The country name REPUBLIQUE DU BENIN arcs along the upper periphery in Latin lettering, while the denomination 1000 FRANCS CFA is inscribed along the lower periphery. | Beschrijving keerzijde | The central field features a finely detailed depiction of a late medieval cog under full sail, rendered with intricate rigging, billowing sails adorned with heraldic devices, and a stylized sea below the hull. In the lower portion of the field, a small bust of Klaus Störtebeker is shown in an arched frame, portraying the legendary privateer wearing a head covering and a beard. The legend KLAUS STÖRTEBEKER arcs along the upper periphery in Gothic-style Latin lettering.
