| Obverse description | Central field displays a stylized allegorical composition featuring the armillary sphere and the Portuguese royal coat of arms, composed of five escutcheons arranged in a cross pattern and bordered by a decorative Manueline-style chain with rope-work knotting above. The mint mark INCM appears at lower left, and the engraver's signature J.J.BRITO at lower right. The denomination 1000$00 is inscribed along the lower arc of the field.
