Obverse description The national coat of arms of Mexico occupies the silver centre field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus growing from a rock in a lake, devouring a serpent. The heraldic design is rendered in high relief within the bimetallic format, with the aluminium bronze outer ring bearing the curved legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS along the upper periphery. Decorative laurel and oak branches flank the base of the coat of arms within the ring.
