Issued to mark the 650th anniversary of Parléř's birth, this coin honors the Swabian-born master builder responsible for completing Prague's St. Vitus Cathedral after Matthias of Arras died in 1352. Parléř's workshop also produced the Charles Bridge sculptures and the Týn Church choir — a body of work that shaped Prague's Gothic skyline for centuries. The Czechoslovak state mint issued commemoratives in this silver alloy throughout the late socialist period as a consistent hard-currency earner, with many pieces sold directly to Western collectors and never entering domestic circulation.
