| Reverse description | The reverse is printed predominantly in green intaglio on a multicoloured guilloche underprint, with an elaborate interlocking lathe-work border framing the entire design. At centre, a large monogram medallion bearing the interlaced letters "B of C" is flanked by two oval panels each containing the word "YUAN" in bold serif lettering. The upper arc carries the bank title "BANK OF CHINA" with the promise-to-pay legend below it, while the lower portion states the place and date "SHANGHAI 1924" in red, with the serial number repeated in red at each lower corner and the imprint "AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY" at the foot. |
