The Bank of Japan title inscription 日本銀行 appears in vertical kanji at upper centre, with serial numbers printed in two positions and check letters within brackets.

The Bank of Japan title 日本銀行兌換券 appears in vertical kanji at top centre above a circular crest vignette. A horizontal English-language promise clause in letterpress reads: 'Nippon Ginko Promises to Pay the Bearer on Demand Ten Yen in Gold.'
