Additional information

Bangladesh hosted the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup jointly with India and Sri Lanka — the first time the tournament visited the subcontinent since 1996. For Bangladesh, co-hosting was a significant institutional moment; the national team had only gained Test status in 2000 and had spent much of the intervening decade establishing credibility against established cricketing nations. This commemorative was issued ahead of the tournament, which ran from February to April, with the final held at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.
