正面描述 Central circular field depicts two Asian elephants at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, located in Kegalle District: a large elephant recumbent in the foreground, partially submerged in stylized water rendered with horizontal wave lines, while a second elephant stands behind in the upper field. The composition evokes the famous bathing scenes at Pinnawala. Surrounding the central motif, the district name appears in three scripts along the upper arc — Tamil (கேகாலை) at left, Sinhala (කෑගල්ල) at centre, and Latin (Kegalle) at right. The date 2013 is inscribed in the lower exergue. The entire design is enclosed within a raised circular border fitted to the hendecagonal flan.

附加信息

The Kegalle district series, of which this is one piece, forms part of Sri Lanka's nine-coin provincial circulation issue released in 2013 — each denomination honoring a different administrative district. Kegalle, situated in the Sabaragamuwa Province, is historically associated with rubber cultivation introduced under British colonial administration in the late 19th century, a crop that fundamentally reshaped the region's land use and labor demographics.

AISI 430 ferritic stainless steel was selected partly for its resistance to the humid tropical conditions that accelerate corrosion in conventional alloys.
